All Our Own: Wool & Grace Recycled Cashmere
When the opportunity arose to create a cashmere yarn just for Wool & Grace, we had to accept. It’s finally here, our Wool & Grace Recycled Cashmere is a blend of 95% cashmere, 5% wool, and it just so happens to be made of 80% recycled product.
Are you wondering what’s up with recycled yarn? (Don’t worry, we were also when we first learned about it!). Cashmere and wool fibers that would otherwise go to waste at the mill are put to use and spun into gorgeous yarns like this. When you think about how hard all those goats and sheep work to bring us such gorgeous fibers, we want to put every bit to use!
We can’t to knit up this beautiful yarn for holiday gift-knitting. Knitting Class Sign Up Starts Today!
Our first fall session of knitting classes is soon coming to a close, and our next 8-week session of classes begins the week of November 12. Beginners, Intermediate and Combo classes are available mornings, afternoons, evenings and Saturdays! Check out our class schedule below. Click on class titles to learn more and sign up online.
Beginners Learn to Knit
In this 8-week course, you will learn the basics including how to knit and purl stitches, how to cast-on and bind-off and how to seam. During the course you'll make a pair of fingerless mitt. Students often finish their first project before the end of the course and are ready to learn more skills including making increases and decreases, or working in the round. Available sessions include:
Tuesdays, November 12 - January 7, 12:30pm - 2pm
Fridays, November 15 to January 10, 12:30pm - 2pm
Saturdays, November 16 to January 11, 10:30am - 12pm
Intermediate Knitting
For knitters who have mastered the basics, you are ready for your own adventures in knitting. During this 8-week course, expert knitting instructors will shepherd you through the project of your choice. We will help you find a project suitable for your skill level, giving you the opportunity to learn and master new knitting skills. The Intermediate Knitting Class is a perfect opportunity to learn design elements like cables or color-work, about garment construction, or to learn new finishing techniques. Available sessions include:

Wednesdays, November 13 to January 8, 10:30am - 12pm
Beginners/Intermediate Combination Class
This combination class accommodates combines our Beginners Learn to Knit with intermediate knitters. Instructors are here to teach all levels of knitters during this class time! This class is perfect for knitters looking for the consistency of a weekly knitting course. Beginners will learn the basics including how to cast-on, knitting, purling and binding off. Intermediate knitters can use this class as an opportunity to add to their knitting skill set with our expert knitting instructors there to guide you. Available sessions include:

Thursdays, November 14 to January 9, 12:30pm - 2pm

Please note classes are for students ages 18 and over. We request that you use yarn purchased from Wool & Grace for your in-class projects.

Brand New Nube from Katia Concept
Hat Knitting Season has officially begun, and our knitters are coming in for quick-knitting super bulky yarns in droves. So when we were unexpectedly introduced to Katia Concept’s new yarn Nube, we decided that we had to have some and that we needed it RIGHT NOW.
This unique super-bulky yarn looks like a crochet chain, an interesting means of keeping this soft and relatively unprocessed wool together and giving it strength. This construction imparts a subtle texture on the knitted fabric. We are already starting to knit up hats and the quick-and-easy Nube Cowl with this awesome yarn.

We have two new yarns from Lana Grossa for fall, and now that we have had sufficient time to play with these yarns, we are in LOVE. Mary’s Tweed and Fusione are our two new arrivals from Lana Grossa for fall, and this week’s blog is all about our take on these yarns having worked with them and all the fun things we imagine for them. Mary’s Tweed is a worsted-weight blend of alpaca, wool, silk and nylon. It comes in a sophisticated palette of autumn hues, each ball having flecks of tweed that give it a subtle but smooth texture. It’s gorgeously soft and a great yarn choice for almost any project asking for a worsted-weight yarn. Each skein of Mary’s Tweed is 150 yards and $17. Fusione is a light and soft blend of cotton, alpaca, wool and nylon. It has a loose, almost roving quality to it, which gives it magical abilities to knit at a range of gauges. Considered an aran-weight yarn, you can treat it like as anything from aran to bulky weight. Each color is its own tonal blend of fibers that have beautiful depth. Each skein is 140 yards and $16.
